“I’ve been able to do some great co-writes,” Cook said in a phone interview. “It’s been fun.”

“I’ve spent the last year of my life singing other people’s songs,” Cook said. “At this stage it’s not looking too promising. I definitely want to progress past that and be an artist.”

“I’m looking to maybe get a little bit of downtime around Christmas,” Cook said. “I’m scheduled pretty much through the end of the year.”

David Cook might be able to relax by Christmas once his album is released and will spend on several tours with his new album.

Rob Cavallo, the Green Day producer who have won several Grammy awards have teamed up with David Cook working on all songs of his debut album to be released this fall.

Cavallo is “a great producer with the kind of sound that I want. …He’s just a good guy. Like the song selection I had on the show, Rob just fit.

Cook is co-writing the majority of the songs on the album, with professional help from Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, Chantal Kreviazuk, the Nixons’ Zac Maloy and Ed Roland of Collective Soul, among others.

Skechers USA has signed American Idol winner David Cook to endorse the brand globally, hoping the new idol will super-charge the athletic shoe company’s cool, hip brand image.

I actually think this is a good move by Skechers. Idol, despite its detractors, is still a powerful entertainment vehicle. And Cook is a much stronger talent and personality than the last two winners—Jordin Sparks and Taylor Hicks.

The Cook deal was announced just a month after analyst firm Wedbush Morgan Securities lowered Skecher’s rating to “Buy” from “Strong Buy” because “a potential shift toward more athletic styles could pressure sales of the company’s core low profile product,” says Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Jeff Mintz. The downgrade has contributed to a subsequent drop in Skechers stock price.

David Cook really maintains hygiene while on tour and he told OK Magazine the two things he can’t live without was his guitar and Lysol.  Well, good thing though, he should maintain being neat and clean to make himself fresh all the time with all those pressures from the tour.  Nice one David!

David Cook was currently on American Idol Tour and while on the road, he was interviewed by OK Magazine and he’s talking about his family and life on the road.

“This is our way of saying thank you to everybody that voted – it’s one big love fest. Plus, I’m excited to experience parts of the country that I’ve never seen before.” On life on the road he added, “There is something romantic about waking up in a different city every day. There’s a cool synergy within the group, and we’re really supportive of each other – we got lucky.”

“Obviously, my family is really important to me, so I’m going to try and get them out to as many shows as possible. But they’re only a phone call away. Whenever I feel like I need to get my ego in check, that’s who I’ll call.”

On his new look, “I got my hair cut, for starters, and I grew the beard. The show was stressful, and I’ve dropped about 15 pounds since it all began. It’s been a physical overhaul for me.” And it is busy, David jokes, “I never have downtime to watch TV and eat a box of Cheez-It’s,” says David of being on tour.

Sure, he’d rather win a Grammy, but could Blue Springs native David Cook help FOX win an Emmy?

American Idol’s latest season was nominated for an Emmy on Thursday for best reality show. The talent contest has had a hard time winning the golden statue. But, this year’s finale between the two Davids, David Cook and David Archuleta, generated a lot of buzz.
