We all know that the hunky singer’s brother Adam has been battling brain cancer for over a decade and he has been very supportive of him. And now, David Cook will run for him on May 3 in Washington, D.C.
According to reports, he will serve as grand marshal in the “Race for Hope 5K” which benefits brain cancer research. David Cook will also join the race as part of a team he set up – which has already raised more than $40,000. Race co-chair Jeff Kolodin told PEOPLE:

“He wants nothing from us at all. This transcends fame and money and everything else. He just wants to help the cause.”

David Cook, meanwhile, says: “The opportunity to become involved in such a worthwhile cause is paramount for me and my family. I don’t run normally, but it seems a small sacrifice compared to what those who have fought cancer have endured. And the fact that my fans have rallied to raise so much in donations is the biggest compliment.” Atta boy! Your blessings today are so well-deserve coz you have such a good heart! =)

“David Cook’s Declaration Tour,” which began February 13 will end soon on April 22! The tour, which hit college campuses across the nation, helped the American Idol champ to promote his self-titled album, which came out last November and was certified platinum in January. David Cook said in an interview about his touring life, “I’ve been very lucky. I’m still pinching myself. I’ve got a show tomorrow night. It’s hectic! But when I do get time off, I just lounge around and try to do absolutely nothing.”

Yep, David Cook’s life has definitely changed drastically! He shares, “The biggest change is when I play music now, people are listening. A year ago I was playing in Tulsa, just trying to get people’s attention. Past that, I think all the ancillary things have changed. I’m in a very different place than I was a year ago, but I don’t feel like a different person. I’ve got amazing friends and family who will knock me down several rungs on the ladder to make sure I stay level-headed.”

The latest American Idol champ is from Kansas City and in his ongoing tour, he has only one concert in Kansas. Thus, tickets to David Cook’s show in Ameristar Casino on April 22 were sold out in six minutes upon selling. That’s the bad news. An even worse news is that the casino received some reports of fake tickets being offered for sale! So be warned David Cook fans — don’t give your hard-earned money to scammers! Ameristar public relations manager Roxann Kinkade said “To my knowledge, this has been Ameristar’s most quick selling show.”

Now, Ameristar says someone has approached them who tried to buy tickets through the web site Craigslist, and never received them. Ameristar also learned that some tickets also have been offered for sale on ticket resale web sites for seats that do not exist in the pavilion. Ameristar Casino Hotel General Manager Chet Koch said,”We have no way of knowing how many of these tickets may have been purchased, but we don’t want even one guest to be surprised and disappointed on concert night if he or she discovers a ticket isn’t legitimate.” BE WARNED GUYS!

We all know that the American Idol champ performed last April 1 on the show that made him famous. What was surprising was the deluge of queries that came with regards to the lyrics of the song that David Cook performed. The song was written by Espionage, a Norwegian songwriting and music production team consisting of Amund Bjørklund and Espen Lind, along with Zac Maloy. The producer was Grammy winner Rob Cavallo who has worked with top music artists including Dave Matthews Band, Kid Rock and Avril Lavigne. Ain’t David Cook grand? ;-) So, without further ado, here’s the “Come Back To Me” lyrics after the jump. Enjoy! =)

The latest AI champ will return to the the singing reality show’s stage for the first time since being crowned the Season 7 winner, and I’m sure it’s gonna be a blast! And no, this is not an April Fools Day joke considering that David Cook will perform on that day. But then, you never know with those American Idol producers! Especially since they haven’t yet announced what the top 9 finalists will perform this week ;-)

Anyway, David Cook will sing “Come Back to Me,” the latest single off of his self-titled debut album. His guesting comes in the midst of his first headline tour, which kicked off February 13 and has played to sold-out venues. Performing on American Idol that same night is Lady Gaga, singing “Poker Face.” Lady Gaga’s debut album, The Fame, was released in 2008, and its first single, “Just Dance,” netted a Grammy nod for Best Dance Recording. No, David Cook and Lady Gaga won’t duet :-p

One of the things that imprinted the hunky singer on my mind was his amazing rock arrangements of several nonrock songs. Remember David Cook’s version of Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby”? Superb! But the song that pushed him to the forefront of American Idol season 7 was version of Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello”. When asked by Weekender, “Did you think you’d be in this spot in your career?”, David Cook replied:

I always hoped for it. I’ve always been a hope for the best, expect the worst kind of person. I also knew, early on, that in this industry, not everyone makes it.

As for his thoughts that being able to play an instrument on American Idol helped him stand out, David Cook shares: “[It] Absolutely [helped me]. I’m not going to blow anyone’s mind by saying that I wasn’t the best singer last season. On pure vocal talent, you could look at Carly (Smithson) or Syesha (Mercado). What worked for me was showing other aspects of musicality — being able to play guitar and come up with my own arrangements. Without that, maybe I’m not even on the show.”
