David Cook was being compared with Chris Daughtry in terms of performance.  Nigel Lythgoe, American Idol producer told OK! Magazine that David Cook could be as big as Daughtry only if he gets some personality.  He thinks:

“enormous for a long time”

“He can certainly sing – and I’d like to see a bit more personality when he’s singing,” he said.

“And that was the only thing that I think our finalists lacked a little bit this year, was more charisma.”

What do you think guys?  Does our David really lack that personality they are looking for?

David Cook told The Associated Press before appearing in Today’s Show that he ignores dating rules of waiting 3 days after a date.

“I don’t really believe in any sort of theories.”

“I just kind of call when I call.”

David Cook had a dinner with Kimberly Caldwell and said that he had a good time and will probably hang out again with her.

“Great girl, we hung out and we’ll see what happens.”

David was a big Dodgers fan while Kimberly sang the national anthem and then watched the game with him.

When David Cook goes back in Los Angeles, he shares his record, hometown and idol related issues with Kansascity.com.

What can you tell us about the record?

It’ll be a jazz calypso record. No, I’m lying. It’ll be a rock record. The goal is to put some twists and turns in it and make it a little interesting. We’re actually in the writing process now. I have songs that I’ve done in the past that have been submitted. Nothing as of yet

Have you selected a producer?

We’re in the midst of figuring that out. A few names have been thrown out but nothing solid. Hopefully we’ll get that mapped out here in the next week or two.

When do you hope to release it?

The goal is mid-fall, mid- to late fall.

The 25-year old ‘American Idol’ winner is now starting to reap the labor of his music. With 940,000 downloads on his digital music in a week(Nielsen SoundScan), he is now one of the most in demand music artist on the net. Next in line are his co-American Idol contestants-David Archuleta with 323,000 downloads and Jason Castro with 64,000 downloads.

The American Idol is indeed really helpful in promoting young talented singers in America. David Cook is not the only artist whose digital downloads jumped into the charts. George Michael, Carrie Underwood and other artists who appeared in the show also gained extra exposure which catapulted their download numbers.
