We all know that the American Idol champ performed last April 1 on the show that made him famous. What was surprising was the deluge of queries that came with regards to the lyrics of the song that David Cook performed. The song was written by Espionage, a Norwegian songwriting and music production team consisting of Amund Bjørklund and Espen Lind, along with Zac Maloy. The producer was Grammy winner Rob Cavallo who has worked with top music artists including Dave Matthews Band, Kid Rock and Avril Lavigne. Ain’t David Cook grand? The latest AI champ will return to the the singing reality show’s stage for the first time since being crowned the Season 7 winner, and I’m sure it’s gonna be a blast! And no, this is not an April Fools Day joke considering that David Cook will perform on that day. But then, you never know with those American Idol producers! Especially since they haven’t yet announced what the top 9 finalists will perform this week

Anyway, David Cook will sing “Come Back to Me,” the latest single off of his self-titled debut album. His guesting comes in the midst of his first headline tour, which kicked off February 13 and has played to sold-out venues. Performing on American Idol that same night is Lady Gaga, singing “Poker Face.” Lady Gaga’s debut album, The Fame, was released in 2008, and its first single, “Just Dance,” netted a Grammy nod for Best Dance Recording. No, David Cook and Lady Gaga won’t duet :-p

And it goes without saying that the American Idol champion wowed his concert viewers too! =) Last Friday, David Cook sang for roughly 65 minutes at the Weidner Center on the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay campus. The sold out show (1,000 tickets for floor seats only) was mostly based off his self-titled debut album that just turned platinum. In his concert, David Cook wore a simple black striped shirt, matching black stocking cap and metallic jeans plus he and his four member band showed off their range of styles from pop songs to classic rock tunes.

David Cook performed “Mr. Sensitive” and “Declaration” from his album then did a Fleetwood Mac cover of “Little Lies” and plus a pre-“Idol” song Cook wrote and only performed once before. SO KEWL! =) The singer noted, “I wrote that three or four years ago. Crazy!” The AI champion ended his official set with his radio hit, “Light On,” after once again thanking fans for showing up to “hear them make a bunch of noise.” David Cook added, “I can’t tell you guys how much this means. I’m floored, really.”

Who would have thought that the American Idol champ is into cracking jokes?? David Cook seemed to be a quiet guy on the eight season of AI. Also, if he’d been a joker then, the judges might have held it against him. David Cook says, “Right, right, Simon [Cowell] and I don’t really share the same sense of humor.” LOL! I doubt the Brit judge even know what “humor” is! o_O He further adds,

“There’s so much stress associated with being in that competition, it’s hard to really crack a joke.. You don’t want to step on Ryan’s [Seacrest] toes or anything.”

If you wanna catch David Cook making jokes, watch his upcoming shows and concerts. In a recent gig, performing live at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for ABC’s “Good Morning America,” a fan told David he looked tired, the singer joked, “Dude, I’m out of it. I’m delirious.” Hehe! He tells a writer-witness about it, “I usually tell bad jokes, so today was one of my better days.”

The “American Idol” handsome champ just announced his U.S. tour last Friday which will take him to colleges around the nation. That would surely excite David Cook’s college girl fans! According to AOL music Web site www.PopEater.com, his 37-date tour will begin on February 13 at Florida State University in Tallahassee and end on April 25 at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.

Most of David Cook’s concerts will take place at colleges, including the University of Mississippi and the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. The AI alumna will also play at Seneca Niagara Casino in New York State and Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, Missouri. The self-titled debut album of David Cook came out in November and won the No. 3 spot on the Billboard charts. It is at No. 10 on the last week og January.
