I found this review on David Cook’s album, This Loud Morning, from an online site blindedbysound.com. The review is written by HippyGirlHeather. It seems to me that she’s not really a fan of David Cook or maybe she just don’t like what she hears and is literally unimpressed. So here I copy/pasted her review at the bottom of this post. DAVID COOK – This Loud Morning CD Review

David Cook’s second post-Idol album This Loud Morning was released at the end of June and there has just been so much musical goodness out there, I haven’t had time to put my thoughts to paper until now. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.

Let me preface this review by saying that while I have bashed David Cook in the past, both privately and publicly, I am approaching this with the most open mind imaginable. As most of you know, I review Idol for the site and I probably mentioned not being a Cook supporter, I was pretty bummed he beat out the angel-voiced David Archuleta on the show’s seventh season- not to mention what he did to the Chris Cornell version of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” is punishable by death in 17 states.

My first impression was this album was unremarkable enough, and I must admit I giggled a little at the title of the opening song being “Circadian” because this entire CD could absolutely lull me into the best sleep I’ve had in months.

The second and third songs (“Right Here, With You” and “We Believe”) blended together making it feel like one awfully long, sub-par effort. “Fade Into Me” starts off and sounds like ten songs from the mid-late ‘90s and the theme is pretty exhausted and Cook brought nothing new to the table here, lyrically or vocally. “Hard To Believe” is Cook’s “trying to be anthemic” song and I’m guessing it’s the tune that classifies him as rock. Skipping ahead to “Time Marches On” and we have what would be my favorite song if someone were holding a gun to my head, my only reprieve being to name a favorite David Cook tune. It’s generic and takes me nowhere special; the beginning is the best part of this song.

The rest of the album is much the same and ending with “Rapid Eye Movement” only reminds me again how sleepy and unimpressed I am with the whole effort. If you’re a David Cook fan, this album will be just what you’ve been waiting for, and if you, like me, can take or leave him with equal happiness, I suggest leaving him and saving yourself a few bucks for a Starbucks coffee.

Ever since he won American Idol, the rocker’s life has been nothing but about music. ”Time of My Life”, David Cook’s first single is platinum. His self-titled album also is platinum and had him working with songwriting heavyweights John Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls, 1980s pop singer Cathy Dennis and Chris Cornell from Soundgarden and Audioslave. David Cook revealed, ”To work with these people that I’ve looked up to for years and have them treat me as a peer was the most fun aspect of this whole process.”

David Cook says he was lucky 19 Recordings and RCA Records let him make the record he wanted. ”I feel like this is the record I would have made with or without ‘Idol,’ with or without RCA, with or without 19,” he said. ”It just allows me to go onstage with the confidence and a passion for those songs that I believe is one of the reasons people have shown up the way they have and people have embraced the record the way they have.”

Winning America’s most-watched and most-loved show can only bring positive results to the winner. And for David Cook, becoming American Idol’s latest champion was the best thing that ever happened to him. So what’s his life been like since winning the show? David Cook says,

“Nuts! I’m constantly amazed at all the cool stuff I get to do. Now the goal is to work as I possibly to make sure I keep to get doing that kind of stuff.”

The singer is currently preparing for his US tour to support his first record — now certified platinum! David Cook said he has been “floored” by the response to his album: “I feel like right now the sky’s the limit. All these good things keep coming in, and hopefully, the other shoe doesn’t drop.”

“I’ve been able to do some great co-writes,” Cook said in a phone interview. “It’s been fun.”

“I’ve spent the last year of my life singing other people’s songs,” Cook said. “At this stage it’s not looking too promising. I definitely want to progress past that and be an artist.”

“I’m looking to maybe get a little bit of downtime around Christmas,” Cook said. “I’m scheduled pretty much through the end of the year.”

David Cook might be able to relax by Christmas once his album is released and will spend on several tours with his new album.

Green Day Producer to Team up with David Cook

Rob Cavallo, the Green Day producer who have won several Grammy awards have teamed up with David Cook working on all songs of his debut album to be released this fall.

Cavallo is “a great producer with the kind of sound that I want. …He’s just a good guy. Like the song selection I had on the show, Rob just fit.

Cook is co-writing the majority of the songs on the album, with professional help from Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, Chantal Kreviazuk, the Nixons’ Zac Maloy and Ed Roland of Collective Soul, among others.
